# Cookie policy

Last updated: September 28, 2026

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. This page lists everything Electricity Cost by State stores or reads on your device.

## What we use

| Name | Provider | Purpose | Type | Duration |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `consent.v1` (local storage) | Electricity Cost by State | Remembers your cookie choice so the banner does not reappear | Strictly necessary | 12 months |
| `ecbs.state.v1` (local storage) | Electricity Cost by State | Remembers the last state page you opened, so a national page can offer a link to that state; never sent to us. “Forget it” removes it | Functional, set when you open a state page | Until you remove it |
| `ecbs.scenarios.v1` (local storage) | Electricity Cost by State | Calculator scenarios you choose to save on this device, with their inputs; never sent to us. “Remove saved scenarios” deletes them | Functional, set only when you press Save | Until you remove them |
| `__cf_bm` and similar | Cloudflare | Tells people apart from bots to protect the site; set only when Cloudflare’s protection is triggered | Strictly necessary | Up to 30 minutes |

Visitor statistics (Rybbit) use no cookies and store nothing on your device. Calculator events are sent without storing anything first.

The site shows no ads at the moment, so no advertising cookies are set.

## Your choice

There is nothing to accept or reject today: the notice you may see only says so. “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page shows it again.

You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings. Google’s list of the cookies it uses: [business.safety.google/adscookies](https://business.safety.google/adscookies/).
