Air-fryer electricity cost

Price a whole meal, including preheat and every batch. Use measured kWh when you have it.

Electricity for your entered meal

$0.12 per whole meal

2 servings per meal; 365.00 meals/year. Annual average: $3.74/month. Electricity only; fixed fees and equipment price excluded.

18.31 cents/kWh · US EIA residential benchmark, 2026-07

Constant-input scenario: 1,750 W for 23.00 total minutes. Preheat: 0.088 kWh; all cooking batches: 0.583 kWh. Actual thermostat cycling can change consumption. The starting times are illustrative, not cooking instructions.

Named input example: US Ninja AF141, 1,750 W at 120 V with a 5 qt basket. This is rated input, not measured average power or meal energy. Timings, batches and servings are editable assumptions.

Your meal and electricity

Include preheat, every batch and any needed holding or reheating. The 0.5 starting value is illustrative.

Held constant for the entered time. The 1,750 W starting rating is not measured average draw. Use measured meal kWh to capture cycling.

Count preheating once across the whole meal. Include any additional preheating here; it is not multiplied by batches.

For unequal batches, enter their average cooking time. Extra powered holding time must be included to count its energy.

At least 1 whole batch. Match the complete food amount when comparing a larger oven.

At least 1 whole serving. Basket quarts do not determine portions.

365 means one whole meal each day. Average month is the annual total divided by 12.

Used only when you choose your own rate. Include variable supply, delivery and taxes.

State averages include fixed-charge revenue spread across kWh. They give benchmark costs; avoided bill charges depend on your own variable rate. Compare full tariff costs.

Optional same-meal comparison

Use the same food amount and a comparable cooking result, including all batches and preheat.

Your measured oven or other appliance energy for that complete meal. Do not use a nameplate or equal runtime as a measurement.

Rated watts and measured meal energy

The US Ninja AF141 is the named starting example: 1,750 W input at 120 V and a 5 qt basket, checked September 27, 2026. The manufacturer specification supplies power and capacity. It does not establish the calculator's 3 preheat minutes, 20 cooking minutes, two servings or annual frequency.

In the time-based mode, kWh = watts × (total preheat minutes + cooking minutes per batch × batches) ÷ 60,000. This assumes the entered electrical input throughout those periods. A heater can cycle while fans or controls continue running; rated watts multiplied by time is not a measured consumption figure.

In measured mode, the entered whole-meal kWh is used directly. Per-serving energy is whole-meal energy divided by servings. Dollars per meal = kWh × cents/kWh ÷ 100. Annual electricity cost multiplies by the number of meals. Idle energy outside the meal is excluded.

Air fryer versus an electric oven

Start with the same food amount, starting temperature and required cooking result. Count all preheating and batches for each appliance. A larger oven may cook several dishes together; a smaller basket may need repeated batches. Equal runtime or nominal capacity does not establish the same task.

For a measured comparison, select measured energy above and enter whole-meal readings for both appliances. Use one electricity rate or compare different tariff periods separately. Follow the appliance instructions and recipe for temperature, timing and doneness; this calculator does not decide whether food is cooked safely.
